We are pleased to advise the boat has been removed from the towpath side lock chamber at Lock No. 63 on the Trent & Mersey Canal and navigation has resumed.

Please be advised navigation is currently closed at Lock No. 63 (Malkins Bank) on the Trent & Mersey Canal due to a boat getting stuck in the towpath side lock chamber and preventing the tail gates from being closed. This combined with leakage through the head gate has created a flow effect through the lock and is having an impact on pound levels further upstream. In light of this, and to ensure the safety of our customers and help maintain the upper pound levels, padlocks have been placed on Lock No. 62 and Lock No.64 to prevent access between these locks An update will be provided by Wednesday 22nd October 2025.
