The Navigation and towpath between Lock 69 and Lock 70 on the Trent & Mersey Canal are currently closed due to a police incident involving an articulated vehicle that has entered the canal near Bridge 165a. Our teams are working closely with the vehicle owners and emergency services to coordinate a safe and careful recovery. Due to the unusual nature and location of the vehicle, this operation is expected to continue throughout the weekend to ensure the protection of canal infrastructure. Once the vehicle has been removed, our engineers will carry out a full inspection to assess any damage and determine the necessary repairs before we can confirm a reopening date. A further update will be provided on Monday, 12 May.
