The pound at Lock 5 is still very low, so unfortunately is unable to be reopened. The team will check again close to the end of the working day.

The team have been closely monitoring the water levels and they have not fully recovered to a navigable level. Pound 5 (between Lock 5 and Lock 6) is down half of its capacity, so we shall be extending the closure to Lock 5 too. This allows recovery time for this section of the canal overnight and we hope, should levels recover to be able to open it tomorrow. We will update the notice tomorrow with further information.

The pound between Lock 6 and Lock 7 on the Rochdale Canal is experiencing low water levels and is current not navigable. The padlocks will be left on the Lock 7 until the levels recover to a navigable level. The notice will be lifted when the water levels are enough for boat movement.
