Following our previous update, our team is still awaiting delivery of the replacement footbridge and the scaffolding required to carry out the works. Once these have been delivered and the scaffolding erected, we will be able to confirm a date for the repair. In the meantime, assisted passages through the lock are now available between 10am to 2pm daily, with at least 24 hours notice for weekday passages and 48 hours notice for weekend passages. After further consideration additional amendments for the design of the footbridge have been made. This has resulted in additional parts being ordered. This has caused a delay in the installation of the new footbridge. A further update will be provided on or before Wednesday, 16 September.

Navigation remains closed at Lock 24W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal due to the deteriorated condition of the footbridge crossing over the lock. A method of repair has now been planned and the team are awaiting the delivery of the new footbridge, Upon receipt of the footbridge, the works will be finalised and a repair date will be confirmed. A further update will be provided on or before Tuesday, 8 September.

Navigation is currently closed at Lock 24W on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal due to the deteriorated condition of the footbridge crossing over the lock, The bridge has become rotten and is no longer safe for boaters to use to access and operate the lock ground paddles. Our team has attended site to assess the damage and are now planning a method of repair, to restore safe access and enable the lock to be safety operated . A further update will be provided on or before 2 September.
