Navigation remains closed between Lock 37 and Lock 48 due to low water levels. Water levels have increased following additional water being fed into the canal from Higher Chelburn Reservoir. However, levels remain too low to allow safe navigation at this time. Our team will continue to monitor the water levels closely, and we will provide a further update on Friday, 21 August.

Due to the continuation of dry weather navigation remains closed between Lock 37 and Lock 48. Our teams are continuing to work to restore water levels in the affected area by feeding additional water into the canal from Higher Chelburn Reservoir. These measures will help maintain water levels and support recovery while improving water management where needed. A further update will be provided on or before Thursday, 20 August.
