A replacement brace is required and is currently being manufactured. Once available, our team will install the brace and complete the necessary repairs. We currently expect works to be completed and navigation to reopen by Thursday 23 July 2026. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while these essential repairs are carried out.

We have had to close navigation on the Staffs & Worcs canal between Swindon Lock, 18, and Botterham Bottom Lock, 20, due to a safety issue at Marsh Lock, 19. The bottom end mitre gates are damaged, one gate is bowing, and unable to lift the paddles. There is also a blocked paddle on the top gate. The Reactive Team has been contacted and they will arrange to attend to make necessary repairs. We will update this Notice as soon as we have timeframe or further information.
