Despite the recent rainfall, water levels have not yet recovered enough to allow the Glasson Flight to reopen safely. While levels remain stable, they continue to be below those required for safe navigation. Our local team are closely monitoring the situation. To help improve water availability, the team will also be undertaking additional works to the waste weirs in an effort to raise water levels across the flight. A further update will be provided on or before 2 September.

Navigation remains closed between Lock 1 and Lock 7 Glasson Flight on the Lancaster Canal. The forecast for rainfall this week is expected to have a positive impact on the current situation and may help replenish water levels. The local team will continue to closely monitor water levels over this period to assess whether conditions improve sufficiently to allow for the safe reopening of navigation. A further update will be provided on or before Friday 28 August.

As the period of dry weather continues the water levels are still significantly low, therefore, navigation remains closed between Lock 1 and Lock 7 Glasson Flight on the Lancaster Canal. Our teams are working hard to maintain current water levels which are being monitored daily. Navigation will re-open as soon as water levels have recovered enough to allow safe navigation A further update will be provided on or before Wednesday 26 August.

As the dry weather continues the water levels continue to be significantly low, navigation remains closed between Lock 1 and Lock 7 Glasson Flight on the Lancaster Canal. We continue to monitor the situation daily and will provide fortnightly updates, or sooner if conditions change. As soon as water levels have recovered to allow safe navigation, the closure will be lifted. A further update will be on or before Wednesday 12 August.
