The water levels have been closely monitored over the weekend and this has given the levels the time to recover. The Huddersfield Broad Canal has reopened and crafts are able to navigate the canal.

The Huddersfield Broad Canal will remain closed over the weekend this is to allow the water levels at the depleted ponds to recover further, to maintain the water levels for the washwall works to be carried out and to maintain the correct water levels for the boaters moored in the marina. The notice will be updated on Monday 2nd March.

The Huddersfield Broad Canal will still be closed for today whilst we are still waiting for the pounds 3 and 4 to recover. There has been a little improvement overnight and this morning but not enough to reopen the canal for boat movement. We will update the notice at the end of the day.

The Huddersfield Broad Canal is closed to navigation for today. This is a temporary measure whilst we are trying to maintain the levels at Aspley Basin whilst contractors are working on the washwalls at Aspley Marina so we have turned the feed off to prevent water levels getting too high and allow them to complete this essential work. At the same time, we are trying to re- fill pounds further down the canal (Pounds 3 and 4) where vandalism has caused the water to be drained from this stretch. To give the water levels the best chance of recovering, without affecting the contractors' work, we are closing the canal for navigation for today. The team will review the water levels tomorrow to see if they have improved and whether it can be reopened for navigation.
