Navigation and towpath are back open between Bridge 30 and Bridge 32 on the Lancaster Canal. We ask all customers to proceed with caution on tick over through Bridge 31, due to some remnants of the bridge's masonry remaining in the water. Our specialist teams are currently organising a workboat in order to facilitate the removal of the remaining masonry. This work will be carried out next week.

Both the navigation and towpath remain closed between Bridge 30 and Bridge 32 on the Lancaster Canal. Our specialist teams will be on site tomorrow, 8 July, to remove the remaining significant masonry and parapet railings from the towpath and navigation. This work is essential to enable safe access and allow for reopening. Once the clearance is complete, our engineering teams will carry out a final inspection to confirm whether it is safe to reopen the towpath and navigation. A further update will be provided on Wednesday, 9 July.

Following a further site inspection at Bridge 31, both navigation and the towpath remain closed between Bridge 30 and Bridge 32 on the Lancaster Canal. Our teams have removed as much masonry and as many parapet railings from the towpath and navigation as possible and have installed new safety barriers on the bridge to prevent further incidents. We are therefore in the process of organising specialist teams and machinery to remove all remaining debris from the canal and towpath before we can safely reopen. A further update will be provided on Monday 7 July.

Following a recent site inspection at Bridge 31, both navigation and the towpath remain closed between Bridge 30 and Bridge 32 on the Lancaster Canal. Our teams are currently working to ensure the area is safe by removing all debris from the canal and towpath. These safety measures must be completed before we can reopen the site to the public. A further update will be provided on Friday 4 July.

Our engineering team have visited the site and assessed the damage caused to Bridge 31 on the Lancaster Canal. Whilst our teams work on a method of repair, navigation and the towpath will remain closed. A further update will be provided Thursday 3 July.

The towpath and navigation are currently closed between Bridge 30 and Bridge 32 on the Lancaster Canal due to a vehicle strike at Bridge 31. Our local operations team and engineers have been notified and are on way to site to assess the situation. An update will be provided on Wednesday 2 July, following a full inspection of the bridge and a method of repair.
