What CRT said it was for

Due to ongoing bad weather and persistently high water levels in the area, our team has been unable to access Heales Lock to carry out the planned gate replacement. As the Intensive Maintenance period is now coming to an end, there is no longer sufficient time to complete these works. As a result, the gate replacement will be deferred from this year’s programme. Essential repairs to improve the gates will be undertaken as soon as conditions allow and can be completed without requiring a stoppage. A separate full closure will be scheduled at a later date to complete the full gate replacement. Further updates will be provided once the revised programme has been confirmed.

Please be advised that, due to overrunning works at Ham Lock and the need to move equipment between sites, the start of works at Heales Lock has been delayed. This stoppage will now take place from 19 January to 6 March. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Following a review of the planned works, we're pleased to confirm that they can be completed in a shorter timeframe than originally advertised. As a result, the stoppage will now run from 12 January 2026 to 27 February 2026.
